TOM Black produced the fastest time on the opening evening of the newly-sponsored Conister Bank 10-mile time trial league at Jurby last Wednesday.
Representing his local club, Team Manx Telecom, he was the only rider to dip under 22 minutes on a cool and breezy evening with a time of 21min 48sec.
He was 25s quicker than Darren Bell (Ellan Vannin/Appleby), with Josh Knights (Manx Viking Wheelers) the best of the junior riders in 22.31.
Veterans Gianni Epifani, Ronan O’Toole (both MVW) and Marty Warren (EV) filled the next three spots, while the leading juvenile was Nick Corlett (Manx Mountain Bike Club) in 14th place with 24.08.
The fastest woman was Laura Wasley (MVW) in 24.51, 21st in a total field of 85 riders. Round two takes place this Wednesday.
