THE Curraghs classic ride out takes place on Easter Monday, starting and finishing from Kirk Michael Football Club between 9 and 10am (at individual rider’s choice).
There is a choice of distances - 31 miles, 55 miles or 79 miles (basically one, two or three laps of a large loop incorporating Ballaugh Curraghs on each tour).
This is not a race, simply an opportunity to ride over a pre-determined route with friends around the north-west of the island and raise some money for good causes.
As this is a ‘ride out’ there is no event insurance, every participant follows the route entirely at their own risk (similar to the James Berry and Stuart Slack memorial rides). There is no entry fee, but a donation in the region of £10 is appropriate for adults.
The route incorporates unmade roads with very uneven, loose and pot-holed surfaces so please be aware this ride is not a gentle spin it is as challenging as you make it.
There are no marshals, safety staff or support vehicles so all participants should be prepared for all conditions and bring with them such supplies they feel necessary.
