The investigation by the Health and Safety Inspectorate into the fire at the Mount Murray Hotel and Country Club is ‘progressing well’.
Some 50 people were evacuated from the hotel accommodation block when the massive blaze broke out in November.
Fire crews were praised for preventing the flames spreading to the reception block next door. The function rooms, restaurant, bistro, pool and a gym opened within a fortnight. Thirty jobs were lost with the blaze having destroyed 90 hotel rooms.
Bernard Warden, head of the Health and Safety inspectorate, said: ‘The investigations are progressing well and we hope to have a report ready for the beginning of the new financial year. We don’t know yet whether it will be a report recommending prosecutions or one on the incident itself.’
