DESPITE arriving at the course at 7.45am on Saturday with the rain pouring down and the wind howling, as if by magic the clouds soon rolled back in time for the fourball better ball stableford off three-quarter handicap at Peel Golf Club.
More than 120 players braved it on a course that was holding but dried out quite well in the wind. The later players had to cope with hail and snow storms. Peter Manzi (9) and Andy McLean (21) were third with 40 points.
Glenn Bell (11) and Graham Shaw were second with 41 points but the winners with a super score of 44 points were John Kelly (7) and Paul Aston (12). They had 24 points on the back nine, including four three-pointers as well as a four-pointer.
This week the club will be holding an individual stableford. Members are reminded that the membership envelopes are in the clubhouse ready for collection.
