Good wins for Douglas B and Emerging Nomads
DOUGLAS B beat old firm rivals Vagabonds B 22-12 in the Shimmin Wilson Manx Trophy and went top of the table in the process.
The game was tied seven apiece at half-time with Niall Killey and Andy Pease both bagging first-half tries for Douglas and Vagas respectively and Luke Hyland and Ryan Windell adding conversions.
In the second half Douglas took control with tries from Sam Peel and Noel Capewell plus a penalty and another conversion from youngster Hyland. Vagas picked up a late consolation try from prop Steve Mercer.
Emerging Nomads hang on in Shimmin Wilson Bowl
It was a must-win game for Nomads and win they did beating near-neighbours 19-15 at Poulsom Park. Mike Condra’s try got Town in front early on. Nomads countered through a Chris Bradshaw try which was converted by Duncan Miller. Town had the final say of the first half though when Gary Stephenson powered over for a try which he converted himself to leave it 12-7 at the break.
A Conor Stephens try converted by Duncan Miller put Nomads in front 14-12 in the second half only for Town to snatch it back with a Stephenson penalty. Nomads, however, took the game when Sam Holt dived in for the match-winning try with five minutes left to play.
