DHSOB and St George’s will contest this season’s Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation Hospital Cup final after the two sides saw off Rushen United and Ramsey respectively on Sunday.

Old Boys were made to work hard for their place in the competition finale, with Josh Thomas’s second-half strike proving the difference in a narrow 1-0 victory over the Spaniards.

Defending champions St George’s demolished Ramsey 11-0 in the other semi-final. The Glencrutchery Road side were expected to make light work of the relegation-threatened northerners and did so in style at Ballacloan Stadium on Sunday.

Sam Caine led the way for Geordies with a hat-trick as his side raced into a 5-0 lead at half-time, while there were braces for Chris Bass Jr and Frank Jones. Also getting in on the act was Calum Morrissey, Jack McVey and Johnny Myers.

Braddan’s hopes of securing promotion to the Canada Life Premier League took a big blow at the weekend as they were held to a draw by Douglas Royal in JCK Division Two.

The Swans went into the game knowing they needed to win all their remaining fixtures to claim the second promotion spot behind champions Douglas Athletic.

However, they found themselves facing defeat when Gavin Gawne gave Royal the lead, only for Andy Glover to strike in the final seconds to seal a late point.

The result leaves Braddan needing Castletown to drop points in their final game of the season against southern rivals Malew on Wednesday. while the Swans need to win their remaining two games and boost their goal difference by nine in the process.

DHSOB’s hopes of a combination league and cup double were abruptly ended on Saturday as they were knocked out of the Ascot Hotel Junior Cup semi-finals.

The Blackberry Lane side appeared to be on course to reach the final when Craig Murphy gave them the lead against Rushen Utd, only for Matty Lamb and Tom Doherty to hit back for the Spaniards.
