David Knight and young Jake Subachus will be flying the flag for the Isle of Man in the 2016 British Enduro Championship - to begin with at least.
With the McCanney brothers committed to other things, Knighter is the only serious Manx contender for the No.1 title this year, but even he is uncertain how much of the series he is likely to contest.
‘I have to go where the money is and to be honest there is nothing in the British series,’ said David. ‘I’ve bought myself a new WR450 Yamaha and I’ll just have to see how it goes in Yorkshire this weekend for the opening two rounds.
‘Everyone is struggling financially, it’s difficult to get tyres never mind bikes. Teams are finding it very hard at the moment.
‘I’m trying to get a deal, but I may have to change tack a bit and look at Rally Raids - the Dakar style of thing - as there’s still a bit of cash in that kind of thing.
‘It’s not a hobby for me, I wish it was. When I turn up at an event I am expected to do well.
‘I’ll hopefully do a few of the Brit rounds, but the recent Extreme events cost me a bit and took up a lot of my time so I will have to see how it goes.
‘I feel like I want a new challenge - a bit more interesting and different,’ added the Ballaugh man who has won more British titles than anyone over the past 15 years. ‘I’ve got one or two ideas and I’m trying to get something sorted.
‘I almost ended up riding my old 2013 Honda, but I decided to get a Yamaha instead.
‘I started on a Yamaha and might well end up finishing on one.’
Up-and-coming Jake Subachus is staying with Mike Seward’s MPS Sherco team for the coming season when he steps up to the main championship.
The 2015 British expert class winner will be astride a 250cc four-stroke this weekend at Helmsley.
After that he will be heading to Spain for some testing in advance of the opening round of the European championship in Italy on March 12-13.
