Plans have been submitted to redevelop the site of a landmark former pub at Newtown, Santon.
Martia Limited has applied (15/01124/B) to government planners to demolish the Lancashire Hotel pub on the New Castletown Road as well as a derelict neighbouring home, Furness Cottage, and land to the rear.
The proposal is for two large detached homes with detached garages, including new road access on to the main road and an estate roadway with vehicle turning area.
Drawings submitted as part of the application show that both houses would feature four en-suite bedrooms, sunroom, and first floor balcony.
They each have a detached garage with home office above.
The most recent application to redevelop the former Lancashire Hotel site was as part of Haven Homes’ bid for approval in principle for 40 homes, a shop with self-service post office kiosk and community facilities including a playing field.
The application (14/00332/A) was refused last year, despite planners acknowledging it could bring ‘some benefits’ in terms of additional housing and increased play, recreation and community facilities.
Lancashire House was most recently used by the Living Hope Community Church. And before that it was the Tot Spot.
