Professional accountancy firm PwC Isle of Man has recruited Andrew Cardwell as tax director in its tax services team.

Andrew brings a wealth of experience to the role; holding a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy and membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (England & Wales), he has specialised in tax since 1994.

Prior to joining PwC, Andrew was tax director in one of the island’s leading trust companies and worked for a Big Four accounting firm in the island.

PwC Isle of Man’s tax services team is led by tax partner Kevin Cowley.

Andrew said: ‘I am delighted to be joining the Tax Services team at PwC and am confident that I can maintain the firm’s sterling reputation and continue to provide a high quality service for both existing and new clients. I am looking forward to working with the team to support the continued growth of the firm and the Isle of Man economy.’

Andrew’s arrival coincides with the retirement of George Sharpe.

George joined PwC Isle of Man in 2008 and has played a critical role in helping build today’s high quality tax services team. He has been a familiar face within the Isle of Man’s financial community, regularly participating in conferences and seminars and contributing to the financial press with articles on tax issues.

George has covered all areas of local, UK and international tax, with specific expertise in advising on direct and indirect tax issues arising from complex cross-border trading and investment structures and transactions.

Kevin Cowley said: ‘We are really pleased to welcome Andrew and I am looking forward to seeing the contribution that he will make to the firm.

‘George will be sorely missed by all at PwC, and we wish him the very best of luck for the future.’
