Ramsey National Week chairman Stephen Bevan has apologised for the cancellation of Ramsey Rocks, explaining that the committee was acting on weather predictions.
The street party event was to be held on the final Friday of national week celebrations,
‘The forecast was for much worse weather than actually transpired,’ he told the Ramsey Commissioners monthly board meeting last week. ‘A lot of people were disappointed, but we had to take a decision earlier in the day. Given the forecast, it wouldn’t have been safe to go ahead’.
He added that they were looking at options of holding another event soon.
Meanwhile, the commissioners are advertising for an apprentice joiner, with the proviso that no guarantee of full employment can be given at the end of the apprenticeship period.
