The local road racing season fires into life this Sunday at Jurby Motodrome with round one of the Isle of Man Centre ACU and Andreas Racing Association club championships.
Ryan Kneen is not defending his title so a new name is certain to go on the trophy for 2015.
Current numbers two and three, Ryan Cringle and Glenn Harrison, look like having a good scrap, along with Callum Collister, last year’s runaway clubman winner Mikey Evans and Rory Parker.
Dean Osborne, comeback man Andy Dudgeon, young Nathan Harrison and seasoned racer Paul Dedman will all be there abouts, but the serious contender could prove to be Billy Redmayne.
He had an absolutely sensational debut in the Manx Grand Prix last year, winning the Newcomers A class and finishing third in the Junior proper. He has been signed up by Martin Bullock’s team and will be astride one of the faithful GSX-R750 Suzukis at Jurby on Sunday in what should be an interesting contest on the opening day of the season.
Dave Molyneux and Ben Binns head the three-wheel class and should have things pretty much their own way, but Karl Bennett/Lee Cain and Darren Hope/Paul Bumfrey will be up for the contest along with defending champions Brian Kelly and Jason O’Connor.
A full programme of solo and sidecar races kicks off from around 1pm.
l Manx Grass and Sand Racing Club is holding a motocross at Knock Froy this Sunday, by kind permission of Peveril MCC. It will cater for all classes. Sign on from 9am.
l Ramsey MCC is hosting a motocross practice on Sunday, March 29 at West Kimmeragh.
Entries for this will be taken at the Crosby Hotel next Wednesday, March 25 between 7.30 and 8.30pm. Fees are £30 adult (plus £15 club membership), £20 youths (£10 membership).
There will be a class for quads if enough entries are received.
l The Isle of Man Centre ACU Stars presentation night takes place this Friday at the Manx Legion Hall, Market Hill, Douglas, starting 7.30 for 8pm.
