FIRE crews were called out to deal with a burning pile of rubbish in the Stoney Mountain area.
The pile, measuring 10 metres by 10 metres, appeared to have been burning for some time before the alarm was raised at about 9pm on Saturday.
Several thousand gallons of water were used to extinguish the fire. The nearest fire hydrant was a half mile round trip and crews were at the scene for nearly two hours due to the size of the blaze and the difficulties caused by the lack of a nearby water supply.
