The Warehouse Fitness Women’s Flootlit Cup final this Sunday has been billed as the emerging team - Peel - versus the experienced team - Douglas Royal.
Both teams are founder members of women’s football.
Peel have never won one of the top three honours within women’s football but, since Michael Corlett has taken on the managerial helm, the westerners have gone from strength to strength.
Although league results have been mixed this year, the Floodlit Cup is a competition they have really embraced and must fancy their chances having defeated both Ballafletcher teams on route to the final.
They do have Floodlit Cup winners in the ranks, with Sarah O’Reilly (Corinthians) and Natalie Swales (Rushen).
Douglas Royal will make a record 11th appearance in the cup final this weekend, having already win the trophy on five different occasions.
Tracy Craig’s side can rely on multiple Floodlit Cup winners and experience within her squad and must fancy their chances to add to the honours board for a sixth occasion.
Another chapter of this competition awaits to be written this Sunday. Kickoff is 3pm at the Bowl.
