Social media company Sixth Sense in partnership with MotorCycle Direct have produced an impressive infographic relating to the Isle of Man TT, focussing on the last decade of the Senior Race.
The Wiltshire-based company, a division of Equimedia Ltd, designed the infographic for the Bristol motorcycle insurance company who described the TT as follows: ‘We love the Isle of Man TT Races. They’re some of the most exciting races around with riders reaching speeds of up to 200mph as they blast around the circuit on the beautiful island.
‘The race has been going for over 100 years, and is a real challenge for riders with its series of bends, narrow roads, stone walls, manhole covers and telegraph poles.’
Entitled ‘A Decade of Winners’, the infographic successfully demonstrates John McGuinness’s dominance of the six-lap blue riband TT race and also includes the machine, race time and average lap speed.
Beginning in 2004, the design marks Adrian Archibald’s Senior success on board his 1000cc TAS Suzuki in a time of one hour 13 minutes 8.1 seconds over a reduced four laps of the Mountain Course.
McGuinness then won the next four Senior Races, firstly aboard a Yamaha in 2005 and then on Hondas for the following three years. In 2009, Steve Plater decided to crash the party and stormed to victory aboard his own Honda, before Ian Hutchinson did likewise 12 months later when the Bingley Bullet memorably claimed a record five wins in a single race week.
McGuinness then returned to the top step on the podium in 2011 and again two years later - after the 2012 Senior Race was cancelled - before Michael Dunlop won the most recent one just a week ago riding a BMW S1000RR.
The infographic also features the Most Decorated Rider and the Most Decorated Machine. Unsurprisingly, these are both dominated by McGuinness and Honda.
Below the graphic display on their website, MotorCycle Direct have also included the winning speeds and race times in the Senior TT for the last 22 years, as well as the winning machines.
