A motorcyclist has been killed in a collision that happened today at the junction with Garey Road, on the main Sulby to Ramsey road.
It happened about 10.20am and involved three vehicles, including a car and two motorcycles. As a result of the collision, a man from the Sulby area received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, a rider and pillion passenger were taken to Noble’s Hospital, with non life-threatening injuries, while the driver and passengers of the car were not injured.
The road remained closed until the racing road closures, and investigations at the scene resulted in a delay to the start of scheduled racing.
Inspector Derek Flint, the senior investigating officer, said: ‘Sadly as a result of this collision, a gentleman has lost his life. We will now need to carry out further work to establish fully what has happened.
‘Our thoughts are very much with the family of this man at this time.
‘I’d like to thank those people that assisted at the scene, and those witnesses that have already come forward. If anyone else has information that they believe may help the investigation, I’d be grateful if they would contact the roads policing office at headquarters, on 631212. Constable Goldie will be acting as the investigating officer.’
