Police are investigating after a 13-year-old girl became alarmed when she was spoken to by a man in a car yesterday.

They believe that people in the Keppel Road or Willaston shops area of Douglas at about 9.30pm might be able to help them.

The girl was spoken to by a man sitting in a car.

A police spokesman said: ‘She did not understand what he said or his intentions and became alarmed.’

Constable Niall Killey of Lord Street police station wants the driver of a black three-door saloon-style car, who was described as mid 30s with medium length curly blond hair, speaking with an Irish accent, to contact the police so that he can establish an innocent explanation and put the young girl’s – and her parents’ – minds at rest.

Witnesses are also being asked to contact Constable Killey.

The girl was unharmed and at this time there is no evidence to confirm ill intent.

The man did not get out of the vehicle at any point and the young girl was not directly threatened.
