There has been a big fall in the rate of inflation in the island, according to official government statistics.
The annual rate of inflation as measured by the Retail Prices Index (RPI) has again decreased, to 1.9 per cent in April 2014 from 2.6 per cent in March 2014.
Excluding housing costs, the annual rate of inflation shown by the RPI has also decreased to 2.2 per cent in April, down from 2.5 per cent in March 2014.
The annual rate of inflation shown by the Consumer Prices Index (CPI), which excludes mortgage interest payments and household expenditure such as buildings insurance, decreased to 1 per cent down from 1.6 per cent in March 2014.
