A PORTRAIT of a former MHK will be among the exhibits at an art exhibition in Douglas to be held from Thursday.
The painting of former Keys Speaker David Cannan, who stepped down as MHK for Michael before last autumn’s general election, will be on display at the exhibition of work by professional artist Svetlana Cameron to be held in the Villa Marina in April.
Current House of Keys Speaker Steve Rodan said: ‘The portrait has attracted favourable comments from many quarters and we were pleased to be able to accord Mrs Cameron the opportunity to display her work to a wider audience at one of the island’s most popular art exhibitions.’
The portrait, commissioned by the Clerk of Tynwald’s Office last year and hung in the House of Keys Chamber in October, will feature in the Isle of Man Arts Society’s Easter exhibition which will also feature a pastel drawing of a child by the same artist.
Mrs Cameron is currently working on a second portrait of former Chief Minister Tony Brown as Speaker of the House of Keys.
The exhibition will be in the Villa Marina Arcade from Thursday, April 5, to Friday, April 13, between 10am and 5pm, apart from April 13 when it will close at 1pm.
