The Isle of Man national football team booked their place in the final of the FA Inter-League Cup with a dramatic late victory over Humber in Ferriby on Saturday afternoon.

Once again, the Men were forced to come from behind as they trailed 1-0 at the interval thanks to Michael O’Connell’s well-taken lob late in the first half.

However, the Isle of Man mustered a stirring comeback in the second half and pulled themselves level thanks to Ciaran McNulty’s penalty after a Humber defender handled the ball inside the box.

The Men pressed for a winner but wasted chance after chance and the game seemed destined to go to extra-time and maybe even penalties.

But in the dying seconds of the game, the lively Lee Gale broke down the right wing and crossed towards Frank Jones, forcing Humber captain Tony Scruton to turn the ball past his own goalkeeper and into the net, sending the Manx players and fans into wild celebrations.

The Men will now face either Hertfordshire and Dorset in the competition’s final which will be held at the Bowl on April 26.
