Peel Clothworkers’ School’s team are all smiles after winning the 2014 Primary Schools’ Chess Congress.
One of their players Pearse Trimble, won the Henry Krebs memorial cup for best young player and the Tom Karen Trophy as Congress Champion. Winning reserve was Peel Clothworkers’ Anthony Saunders, celebrating his ninth birthday.
Laxey School’s team was the runner up.
Trophies and awards were presented by Arthur Taggart, of event sponsor the Rotary Club of Onchan.
Christina Adcock of The Buchan School won the Ann Cottier Cup for the best girl. Ann presented her with her cup.
