The domestic motocross season got off to a cracking start with a stubblefield event, organised by Isle of Man Schoolboy MCC, at Ballaugh Cronk on Sunday.
The big success story of the day was the increased number of adult riders taking part, necessitating the introduction of a B Group for the first time in quite a while.
Antony Smith took the Group A honours with three wins from solo trials converts Olly Megson and Chris Madigan. Peel’s Will Quirk walked away with Group B from Jason McNee and veteran ‘crosser Chuck Bregazzi.
Southern farmer Will Duggan secured top spot in the quad bikes with a hat-trick of wins from Matt Thorpe and Kane Hall.
A larger youth 125/250F group than in recent years resulted in some close racing with Tom Walker securing all three race wins from hard-chasing Jordan Corkill and Ethan Lamb.
Unfortunately only two riders contested the 85/150F Big-wheels, with Liam Crellin showing great pace to claim all three wins from Christopher Moore on the 150 Honda.
Greeba’s Max Ingham walked away with three clear 85 Small-wheel wins. A fantastic ride from Tom Cain secured him second spot on the Crosby Kawasaki from similarly mounted Curtis Grose.
Luke Hall took up where he left off last year with a trio of wins in the 65cc class ahead of Ryan Quirk, with Percy Hampton third.
Jack Keenan also continued his winning ways from 2013 with a full-house in the Autos. He’s hoping to spread his wings onto the UK circuits as the season gets into full swing. Ride of the day in this class was produced by second placed Jacob McCanney who had a great battle with Beau Brown in third.
A big well done to newcomers Aaron Corfield and Ryan Christian who rode extremely well in their debut races.
