Educationalists, politicians, public sector personnel, industry leaders and those working in the charity sector are invited to book a place at the second Employability conference.

The event will build on the success of the first gathering, held in October 2012, in exploring ways to assist young people into employment and bridge the gap between school and the workplace.

The conference takes place on April 2, from 8am to 2pm, at the Mount Murray Hotel and Country Club, Santon.

Keynote speaker is home-grown blues star Davy Knowles, reflected by the conference title ‘Reach Higher’.

Other speakers include Professor Tony Watts, founding fellow of the National Institute for Careers Education and Counselling, and Dare2Lead founder John Loughton.

Returning for a second time are Greater Merseyside Connexions chief executive Kieran Gordon and AQR Business Consultants managing director Doug Strycharczyk.

The initiative is led by the Employability Working Group. It will give an update on priorities identified at the inaugural gathering: communicating job-related information digitally; involving employers more directly in careers education and enhancing work experience opportunities.

Working group chairman Annette Baker said: ‘We look forward to continuing the momentum in an area that’s so important for the future of our young people and our economy.’

To request a place email cpdbookings@doe.sch.im (with your name, title, organisation, email address and whether a returning or new delegate).

For more details contact Mrs Baker on 648700 or a.baker@bhs.sch.im
