Jurby and District WI has given a £100 boost to Jurby School’s minibus appeal.
President Barbara Simpkins and secretary Wendy Dawson presented the cheque to pupils and head teacher Will Nelson. The school is raising £20,000 to buy a minibus to allow pupils to travel to educational opportunities island-wide.
In a letter to the school, Wendy said: ‘After 63 years, the institute is closing and we felt that some of our funds should go to a worthwhile project in the community and what better way than to help the next generation.’ The WI also gave £50 to St John Ambulance’s Community First Responders and £80 to Associated Country Women of the World.
