A WEBSITE is being set up to provide information on the Safeguarding Children Board’s child protection procedures.
The Department of Social Care has contracted Tri-x Childcare to host the website, primarily to provide guidance to professionals and voluntary organisations but also to provide useful information for parents/carers and young people.
In a written reply to a question from Speaker of the House of Keys Steve Rodan MHK, Chief Minister Allan Bell MHK said the benefits were the ‘sharing of best practice and ensuring any new guidance is made available in a timely manner’.
The company has also been contracted to provide twice yearly updates to the website.
Mr Bell said the creation of the contract and maintenance of child protection procedures cost £6,000.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister said there were two off-island consultants employed by the Safeguarding Children Board, which conducts serious case reviews with the aim of protecting children from harm and neglect.
One chairs the Safeguarding Children Board, Serious Case Review and Child Death Overview panels, acts as an independent voice and provides advice and support regarding the board’s business.
The other consultant acts as a manager of the board’s activity.
Mr Bell said the budget for the board was £112,000, including travel, accommodation and miscellaneous expenditure.
