The usual suspects of the Ballafletcher clubs will host the 15th Warehouse Fitness Floodlit Cup this Sunday.
Like the film of the same name, it will feature a star-studded cast including some of top women players based in the island. Also expect some twists and turns in the story-line along the way.
This competition has become the most difficult silverware to retain, a feat only achieved once by Malew in 2005 and 2006.
Current holders and five times winners Douglas Royal will be looking to emulate this feat and boast a number of players on top of their game.
Currently sitting on top of the league table, a win for Royal will trigger another footballing power shift over Ballafletcher which will see their name engraved on the trophy for the sixth time.
However, Corinthians have seen a change in some of the playing personnel with players transferring or moving off-island. This has seen another crop of youngsters feature in their first team.
Corinthians will have been hurt not only by losing their first derby match at home this campaign but also last season’s final against their neighbours so they’ll be gunning for revenge.
A win for the latter on Sunday will be further proof that they have the right blend of youth and experience as they continue their recent domination on the local women’s football scene.
Kick-off is 3pm this Sunday at the Bowl.
