X-country champs on Sunday at Crossags

The Microgaming-sponsored Isle of Man Cross Country Championships take place on Sunday at Crossags Farm, Ramsey.

The event incorporates round four of the cross-country league, and double points are awarded for this round making it a vital scorer. It also counts as two of the four events needed to qualify for the league.

The event is organised by Northern AC and racing gets underway at 2pm.

Please note that no parking is available at the venue other than for race officials – please park at Ramsey Grammar School on Lezayre Road and walk up Crossags Lane. This leads across the golf course and up to the Crossags pavilion.

The timetable of events is as follows: 12.45 to 2pm - registration for all competitors. 2pm - Under-nine boys and girls (two small laps - 860 metres); 2.10pm - U11 boys/girls (three small laps - 1,290m); 2.25pm - U13 boys/girls (short course – one small and one large lap - 2,600m); 2.35pm - U15 boys/girls, U17 women, U20 women (one small and two large laps - 4,770m); U17 and U20 men, senior/veteran women (one small and three large laps – 6,940m); senior and veteran men )one small and four large laps – 9,110m).

The course has been slightly extended from the previous event at Crossags, so consult course maps at the venue.

Entry fees are £4 for unde- 18s, £5 for competitors aged 18 and over who are paid up members of an athletic club, and £7 for unattached competitors aged 18 and over.

There is also a team element to the championships for members of clubs and schools. Four competitors are needed to make up a team in each age group, except under-17s and under-20s (three) and senior men (six). All medals will be presented at the end-of-season prize presentation on Friday, March 21 at the Claremont Hotel, Douglas.
