PDMS Southern Nomads host Western Vikings at King William’s College this Saturday in the second preliminary game of the Manx Cup.
A win for Nomads will see them through to a February 23 semi-final against Douglas.
The men from Peel will, however, have other ideas and while a cup semi at Douglas would perhaps be a step too far for Vikings in their comeback season, it won’t stop them trying.
The small pitch at King William’s may suit Vikings a little better too and they’ll certainly give Nomads a battle.
In the Manx Plate there is also a preliminary game at Port-e-Chee where Douglas B host Ramsey B.
This is a straight knockout and the winner will get a semi-final match at home against probably either Western Vikings or Castletown.
Douglas have gone so well in the Manx Shield that they’ll fancy their chances here and while Ramsey did run them very close at Mooragh Park earlier in the season, I suspect it’ll be Douglas who make the semis.
