RUGBY returns to Port-e-Chee this Saturday with the visit of Moore in South Lancashire and Cheshire Division Two.

Douglas will be happy with a home game having not played on Manx soil since November 24.

They have so far enjoyed a good start to the season having only lost twice.

The Port-e-Chee outfit are sitting in second place behind leaders Sefton and the club’s coaches will be hoping for the form to continue as the new year begins.

Last season the second half of the campaign was where Douglas fell away a little but this season there is a difference.

Nobody has the travelling bug and there are many returning to bolster the ranks.

In the pack Dan Creer starts his stint in New Zealand so Rob Todd comes back into the front row with Ben Pote and Carl Markl-Ferns.

In the engine room Glyn Hooson-Owen and Daryn Thompson offer the grunt.

Christian Brew has returned from Australia and offers Craig McGee a challenge along with Stephen Tansell, James Lidgett and Nick Horsthuis.

The backs division is showing more depth this half of the season with Mike Hebden and James Wood returning to offer options in the centre and free Niall Killey to move to number eight.

Nathan Pierce has also returned from long-term injury to add options out wide.

The match on Saturday should be a good game of rugby.

Douglas won convincingly at Moore in September and will be looking for another big performance.

However, Moore are no mugs and will have a score to settle with Douglas so don’t expect this to be a one-sided affair by any means.

The Manx side have plenty of strength in depth, but it maybe a case of waiting for some of the new partnerships that are being formed on the pitch to click.

Douglas on paper are the form side and should win at home. The Manx team, however, mustn’t take Moore lightly as they are more than capable of taking a scalp if complacency creeps in.

Kick off is 2.15pm and all are welcome to come and offer their support to the lads.
