ST German’s Cathedral in Peel will host The American Gospel Christmas this weekend.
Currently touring the British Isles and Ireland, a group of US gospel singers will offer a concert of Christmas music and carols tonight (Friday) and tomorrow evening.
Star of the show New Yorker Marque Lynche will be joined by three other singers for what is sure to be a very special concert.
As well as touring as a gospel group, each of the four US performers has their own developing solo music career and three of them are due to co-star in an upcoming Broadway musical.
Marque started his career as a youngster on Disney’s hit TV show MMC starring alongside pop icons Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera and Hollywood actor Ryan Gosling.
He then went on to star as Simba in the Broadway production of the musical The Lion King.
In 2004, Marque was a semi-finalist on American Idol where he worked with Grammy winner Fantasia and Oscar award/Grammy winner Jennifer Hudson.
After many years in television and theatre, he took a break from the industry to recover from the loss of his mother and to do some soul-searching.
These days he is focusing his sights on the recording industry and has joined forces with a record label to release his first album project.
Marque will release the first single from his album in late 2013.
Album collaborations with his friends Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears and Fantasia are also in the pipeline.
And he is contracted to co-star in the upcoming 2013 Broadway musical Gospel Soul Rock & Roll.
The American Gospel Christmas will take place in Peel at 7pm on both nights.
Tickets cost £12, with 15 per cent of the proceeds going to the cathedral.
