THE public will have their first chance to check out the refurbished facilities at the National Sports Centre in Douglas on Sunday, when the swimming pool area re-opens for the day, ahead of the Christmas closures.
The pool will open on Sunday at 9am for lane swimming and a quiet session in the leisure pools, before the features and slides open at 10.30am for fun sessions. The centre’s two flumes have been repainted and themed as ‘The Serpent’ and ‘The Reef’, with new timing systems and a faster design.
The pool surroundings have been painted, sections of the pools re-tiled and a new toddler’s slide installed, and shower blocks and changing rooms have also been refurbished.
The centre will be closed on December 24, 25, 26 and on January 1. The inflatable assault course will make a return from January 3.
