A SURVEY investigating household spending is under way, with the first letters having gone out to a batch of 200 randomly-selected Manx households.
Economic advisor Stephen Carse, whose Treasury Division is responsible for the project, said: ‘The survey will be ongoing, to enable us to collect data over a full year although any individual household is only involved for two weeks. They are asked to note their spending on goods and services.’
The survey is designed ultimately to include around 1,000 households. The results will be used to help confirm the share of VAT and customs revenue due to the Isle of Man under its Customs and Excise Agreement with the UK.
