THERE are two important games in the Shimmin Wilson Shield this Saturday.
At the top of the table, Vagabonds B take on Douglas B at Ballafletcher. The original fixture was abandoned in its early stages after an injury to referee Daryn Thompson and Vagas will be hoping that the delay has allowed them to get over some of the injury problems they suffered just before Christmas.
For Douglas, this is a must win game. They are still in with a shout of tying with Southern Nomads at the top of the table and forcing a play-off for the Manx Shield.
To do this, however, they need to win both their remaining matches, which are against old rivals Vagabonds.
Vagas played last week and were impressive against Castletown and they will fancy their chances against a Douglas side who haven’t played for a little while and may well be a little rusty.
At the bottom end of the table Castletown play Emerging Nomads in the wooden-spoon battle.
Nomads are probably the form team going into the game. They’ve just won three on the trot and have in fact beaten title challengers Douglas B already this season.
They were solid last week against Ramsey B and deserved their preliminary round Plate win. Town are probably the better organised of the two but have been inconsistent this season as they struggled with the lack of depth in their squad. This should be a fascinating game and the result could go either way.
