FORMER Tynwald president Noel Cringle makes a foray into the world of showbiz with the launch of a new compact disc on Sunday.

The recording features Mr Cringle reading an epic poem based on the true story of a 14-year-old boy who lied about his age so he could enlist to fight for his country in the First World War.

He then joined up for a second time to fight in the Second World War as well, this time alongside his two sons.

The poem was written by Bridget Carter and the compact disc – said to be a collector’s item – comes along with a complimentary booklet which tells the full story. It has been useful in helping those with impaired hearing.

The Strand Shopping Centre in Douglas is the location for Sunday’s launch

The compact discs cost £10 each and with the advent of yuletide could make a novel Christmas present.

Copies of the CD can be ordered by emailing {bridgetcarterpoetry@mcb.net|bridgetcarterpoetry(at)mcb.net}.

Copies of the CD are also available from the Manx Aviation and Military Museum of the Manx Regiment at Ronaldsway Airport, The museum will also receive 20 per cent of the proceeds from each sale made.

Sunday’s launch at the Strand shopping Centre will also offer an opportunity to find out further information about the CD, the story and the author.

More information can be found on the Strand Shopping Centre Website at {http://www.thestrand.co.im.thestrand.co.im}.
