THERE was a full emergency at Isle of Man Airport this afternoon (Thursday) when a Manx2.com flight reported it had lost oil pressure after take-off.

The 2pm service landed back at Ronaldsway at 2.27pm with its right hand engine switched off.

Eight passengers and two crew were on board.

A Manx2.com spokesman said: ‘After take-off on the Isle of Man to Newcastle flight today, the crew of the Van Air Europe Let410 operating the service on behalf of Manx2.com, noticed a gauge fluctuation and shut down the right hand engine as a precaution.

‘The aircraft returned to the Isle of Man and landed safely with passengers transferred to a standby aircraft, which then operated the service.’

Shortly before the flight landed back at Ronaldsway, an Isle of Man Fire and Rescue spokesman said it was ‘presently responding to a full emergency at Ronaldsway Airport.’

Half an hour later it was reported ‘the plane has landed safely and Fire and Rescue vehicles are now standing down’.
