VAGABONDS B beat Castletown in a highly entertaining Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield game at Ballafletcher on Saturday.
Sam Brennan was the star for Vagas, bagging three tries and three conversions. There were also tries from Chris Vorster, Floris Venter, Chris Large and Aiden O’Shea. The latter man also kicked one conversion.
Town’s points came from Mick Shipley, Dan James, Ruan Badenhorst and Barry Irvine, with three conversions courtesy of Sam Peel.
The win means that Town now have to fight it out with Emerging Nomads this week in a battle for the wooden spoon. Vagabonds B may still qualify for the Shimmin Wilson Manx Trophy, if they pick up four or more points from their two remaining games - both against Douglas B.
At the top end of the table, Southern Nomads must wait to see if they can retain their title.
Douglas B have those two games yet to be resolved and if they were to win both, they would tie with Nomads at the top of the table and force a play-off.
