Cal Crutchlow ended his MotoGP campaign in disappointment, crashing out of the season finale in Valencia on Sunday.
Crutchlow, who started the race from 11th place on the grid, was running in ninth position when he crashed midway through the race.
Despite the no-score the Ramsey resident claimed the Independent Riders Championship from Spanish rider Pol Espagaro. After a strong second-half of the season which included two victories the Honda rider finished seventh overall in the Championship.
In Moto 2 Sam Lowes claimed fourth place with a final-corner pass on Alex Rins, the result leaves the Onchan resident fifth in the final Championship standings.
With the first official test of the 2017 season starting today, Tuesday, neither rider will have much of a break.
This can’t come soon enough for Lowes who will get to ride the Factory Aprilia machine he will make his Moto GP premier class debut upon in 2017.
