The volunteer crew of Ramsey lifebaot was called out yesterday (Monday) at around 12.15pm following a report of someone in distress in the sea off Queen’s Pier.
The man had fallen from his yacht, moored at the visitor buoys in the bay, while attempting to board his tender-dinghy.
A second yacht found and recovered the unharmed but shocked and cold casualty and took him to Ramsey harbour, where he was transferred to a waiting ambulance.
Ramsey lifeboat crew retrieved the drifting dinghy, which contained the man’s possessions, and towed it to Ramsey harbour.
Due to tidal conditions, the lifeboat could not be recovered immediately and was moored temporarily in the harbour until mid-afternoon, before transferring to the beach and subsequent recovery to the boathouse.
