The Isle of Man women’s representative team were winners of the Regency Travel-sponsored Spring Cup competition at the Bowl after defeating visiting sides Altrincham and Chester City 3-2 and 3-0 respectively.
In their opening match against Altrincham, the Manx registered a 3-0 lead via strikes from Jade Burden (2) and Sarah Wignall. However, there was a great fightback from Alty, with Laura Kelly and Georgia Plant scoring for the visitors.
In their remaining fixture against Chester City, Sarah Wignall (2) and Ceri Purvis scored for the Isle of Man.
The Isle of Man Football Association’s Development side were also in action against Chester and Altrincham.
In the opening match against Chester, Emily Jones (2), Simi Skelcher-Maxwell (2) and Chloe Teare scored for the Manx, while the Cheshire side’s response came via a Becky Sheel strike.
In the Development side’s other match versus Altrincham, Maxine Smalley scored for the Isle of Man but strikes from Laura Dodds, Kate Bryan and Judy Henson from the visitors made sure they finished as winners.
