St Ninian’s Badminton Club has had its clubmark accreditation with Badminton England renewed.

Accreditation involves the club demonstrating to the governing body for badminton in England several things.

The Saints have had to meet high-quality standards in the playing and activity programme, duty of care, club management and welfare as well as knowing its community.

Club chairman Simon Fletcher explained: ‘ Standards in all sports are increasing all the time and we are constantly, and quite rightly, being required to demonstrate high standards of care of our players as well as offering a professional approach to regulations and coaching.

‘This accreditation proves that St Ninian’s Badminton Club is doing all these things properly.’

Susanne Domingo who organises the junior section of the club added: ‘We have a lot of enthusiastic younger players of all abilities and we are able to help them improve, along with the assistance of many of the players’ parents and other players who help out with the coaching.

‘This constant stream of players progressing from beginner, to improver to competitive at club, tournament and sometimes county and Commonwealth level is what makes St Ninian’s such a successful club.

‘We are also delighted to enjoy the continued sponsorship of Cu-Plas Callow, local plumbers’ merchant whose help enables us to provide our players with the right equipment, team shirts and helps to keep club subs down.’

‘The club is also very grateful to the island’s badminton development officer Kerry Quayle for ensuring that the application was successful.’
