Manx-born Celtic footballer Kieran Tierney has been called-up to the senior Scotland squad for its forthcoming friendly with Denmark .
The 18-year-old has enjoyed a stellar breakthrough season for the Bhoys, making the left-back spot his own at Celtic Park. Tierney will now get the chance to impress on the international stage after Gordon Strachan named him in his 19-man selection for the game at Hampden Park on March 29.
Tierney was in the island earlier this week, speaking about speculation on a potential call-up he said: ‘I’ve played for the under-18s and u19s maybe four or five times so to jump up to the senior team would be remarkable.’
Tierney is not included in Strachan’s squad for the earlier game of the international break against the Czech Republic on March 24. The former Coventry boss is using the two fixtures as an opportunity to try out a number of different players ahead of the World Cup qualifiers later this year.
