Douglas Athletic’s quest for a league and cup double faces a tough test this weekend when they go up against Douglas Royal in the quarter-finals of the GH Corlett Woods Cup.
The Pinks are well on course to clinch the JCK Division Two title at a canter - they currently lie 12 points clear at the top - and are also favourites to successfully defend the Woods Cup.
However, Royal have already shown they can cause an upset in cup competition this season, having knocked Premier League side Marown out of the FA Cup in January.
The last time the two sides met, Athletic romped to a 9-0 win at Ballafletcher but, while the Pinks will be sure-fire favourites to progress, this should be a slightly closer affair.
While the Woods Cup quarter-final takes centre stage on Saturday, there are also four games scheduled in JCK Division Two.
The pick of the bunch is a repeat of one of last weekend’s Woods Cup quarter-finals, Braddan v Colby, which proved to be a thrilling contest. In a dramatic match at Victoria Road on Saturday, Braddan came from behind to lead Colby only for the Moonlighters to hit back and then score a 91st minute winner through Carl Hickey.
With a place in the top four at stake, expect another interesting battle.
Governor’s Athletic will be hoping to claim their first points of the season when they travel to fellow strugglers Foxdale, while Onchan head south to face Castletown and Malew head up to Michael United.
