Peel secured their place in the semi-finals of the Regency Travel sponsored Women’s FA Cup after defeating Gymnasium 2-1 at Tromode on Sunday.
Eleanor Gawne put Gymnasium ahead after seven minutes despite the Douglas side being only able to field nine players.
Sarah O’Reilly equalised for the westerners on the stroke of half-time before Natalie Swales scored the winner for the Sunset City side in the 52nd minutes. Gymnasium kept battling and continued to create chances despite their numerically disadvantaged, but couldn’t grab a late leveller.
Douglas Royal recorded the biggest win of the day, defeating Colby 20-0 at Station Road. Leading 11-0 at the break, Donna Shimmin (6), Ceri Purvis (4), Becci Pate (4), Zoe Hawley (2), Rebecca Cole (2), Bekkie Colquitt and Lavinia Washington scored for the Ballafletcher side.
The match involving DHSOB and Corinthians was postponed with the Blackberry Lane pitch unfit.
