THE NatWest Island Games will return to the Swedish island of Gotland in five years time for the 2017 event.
An extremely popular venue for the VIIIth biennial sporting event in 1999, the first with sponsorship from NatWest, Gotland was confirmed as the 2017 host by the membership of the International Island Games Association (IIGA) at their annual general meeting in Bermuda recently.
Jorgen Pettersson, chairman of the IIGA executive committee commented: ‘Gotland is an island well known for its passion for sport.
‘The islanders there have the knowledge and enthusiasm as well as the venues and accommodation to deliver a great Games.’
