LLOYD Taggart powered to victory in the inaugural Pier to Pier run on home territory on Sunday morning.

In beautiful conditions, he made it to the Sound, from Port St Mary, via Perwick beach and the Chasms, in approximately 25 minutes.

The Surby man then reached the finish at Raglan Pier, Port Erin in another quarter-of-and-hour despite the hilly and rocky nature of the terrain, to dip under 40 minutes for the 9.5km course.

He beat Tom Cringle by almost five minutes with fellow southsider Rob Sellors third.

Shaun Moore, 16, of Western AC was the leading junior in 11th place and Judith Quane of Ramsey the first woman home in 16th.

Full report and pictures in Thursday’s Manx Independent.
