The Canada Life Premier League’s current top two will contest Boxing Day’s Cu-Plas Railway Cup final.
Holders St George’s came from behind to beat Laxey 5-1 at Glen Road, while Peel defeated Old Firm rivals Rushen 4-1 at Douglas Road.
Both games have been postponed several times because of the recent wet weather so it was a relief when both game went ahead and the fourth and third time of asking respectively despite late pitch inspections.
Tom Smith gave the Miners the dream start at Glen Road when he put his side ahead against Geordies. However, the Premier League pacesetters hit back through Ciaran McNulty (2), Calum Morrissey (2) and Joey Morling.
Peel also made a flying start to the other semi when Lee Gale gave the westerners an early lead. Marc Kelly doubled Peel’s advantage before Matty Cain pulled one back for the Spaniards. Second-half goals from Ashley Webster and Daniel Pickering sealed their side’s passage to the final that looks likely to be held at Ballafletcher with the Bowl still out of action.
In the Canada Life Premier League, the bottom two both won.
RYCOB picked up their first win of the season with a 3-2 win over fellow promoted side Marown. Youthie will however, remain bottom at Xmas with town rivals Ramsey beating Union Mills 2-1 at Garey Mooar.
