An inquest into the death of a 39-year-old man from Douglas this afternoon reached a verdict of death by non-dependent abuse of drugs.
Trevor Bruce Kerr, of Mona Drive, was found dead in bed at his home on April 24 by his partner.
The cause of death was given as aspiration of gastric contents into lungs due to drug toxicity due to excessive use of pregabalin and dihydrocodeine.
The court heard that Mr Kerr had been prescribed drugs, but not pregabalin or dihydrocodeine.
Coroner of inquests John Needham said: ‘The case gives a warning about taking non-prescribed drugs.
‘Medication of this sort is very dangerous and runs the clear risk of death.’
