A HOST of well known local personalities have recorded a series of videos on the subject of legal highs for online advice service Crash Test Tim.
According to the service, the profile and popularity of the originally legal drug mephedrone, commonly referred to by the nickname ‘plant food’ and made illegal in 2010, led to increased use and availability of legal highs, prompted the idea of producing videos highlighting alternative activities people on the island take part in to get their kicks – and how to get involved.
The first video launched at a recent showing at the Youth Centre in Peel, and showcases Adventurous Experience’s Keirron Tastagh coasteering and kayaking around the island.
Keirron was interviewed about his passion for adventure sports which provides the soundtrack to the action footage of him and his team enjoying their open water adventure playground.
There are three more videos in the series, featuring Olympic snowboarder Zoe Gillings, world enduro champion David Knight and online freerunning sensation Will Sutton.

Crash Test Tim is an anonymous online service for Manx residents offering help and advice on drugs, alcohol, sex and health. As well as having information, articles, links and useful contacts on the site, Crash Test Tim gives people the opportunity to ask questions direct to ‘Tim’ with responses posted in the help and advice section.
In a society where there is limited opportunity for open discussion on drug use, effects and experiences, and information on the emerging ‘legal highs’ scarce the annonymous nature of the Crash Test Tim service allows for clear and relevant responses.
Queries vary from how long the effects of the drugs usually last, to potential impact of use on pregnancy.
