Jamie McCanney has been confirmed as the 2015 British Enduro Champion after several days of uncertainty.
The 21-year-old Manxman initially believed that he had secured the title after winning the final round of the series at the final round in Norfolk on Sunday.
But main rival Steve Holcombe’s Beta UK team protested the result, believing that the tie-deciding split between their rider and McCanney was incorrect.
The Auto-Cycle Union’s trials and enduro committee met on Thursday to discuss the matter and came out in favour of McCanney, who is now confirmed at the winner of Edmondson Racing Ltd-sponsored series.
Meanwhile, it looks likely that McCanney is to move to Yamaha for the 2016 Enduro World Championship.
He has recently been in talks with Team Miglio Yamaha after failing to reach a second-year agreement with Bel-Ray Husqvarna.
Although not officially confirmed, McCanney should join Team Yamaha Miglio and contest the Enduro 1 class of the 2016 EWC with the factory WR250F.
Jamie will be in Jerez, Spain on Sunday to attend the Federation of International Motorcycling’s Gala Awards ceremony.
The glittering end-of-season function is attended by world champions from all codes of motorcycle sport, from trials and motocross to MotoGP.
Castletown’s Jonathan Rea will also be in attendance to receive his award for winning the Superbike World Championship.
