We asked you a few weeks ago for your thoughts on the weekly ManxSPCA article and there was some feedback on Facebook but it didn’t answer the question we asked!
What we would really like to know is what topics you would like us to cover.
Of course we will always give information about animals needing homes as that is a major part of what we do but we’d like to encourage new readers, people who are not looking to adopt right now but are interested in animals and wildlife.
Please do let us know what you think so that we can make the very best use of the column space and get the message out to more people who could become supporters of the ManxSPCA. Don’t be shy, get in touch and let us know – we value your opinion.
Some of our present supporters did a fantastic job at the weekend, raising £800 at the artisan fair at Ard Jerkyll.
Our chairman and her small band of indefatigable ladies organised the event and it was great to see so many old friends in the play barn and hopefully first time visitors will come back.
The play barn is an amazing facility used mainly for training but we plan to make greater use of it for events of this kind in the future as we need to take advantage of every opportunity to raise funds for the day to day running of the society which, as you know, is a constant concern as we have to be there for the animals who need us now and in the future.
Wilf is one of those animals as his owners didn’t have the time to give him the life he deserves so ten year old Weimeraner Wilf is looking for a new home. He’s a great dog, loving, clever, good-looking and will be a delight to live with. He gets on with other dogs and loves his toys and his treats so he’s easy to please and is just waiting for a second chance.
Here’s an unusual pet for you – Nigel the Pueblan Milk Snake needs someone who understands how to care for snakes as he’s a big chap who needs specialist care in a vivarium with a temperature of around 80 degrees with plenty of places to hide as Nigel likes confined spaces.
He’s a stunning-looking creature, black, red and apricot and he will be a fascinating companion for the right person so talk to the staff in small animals and they will advise you. Nettle and Carrot don’t want to live in a confined space as a hutch is not enough for these handsome bunnies.
They need space to run and to play and these two pretty lion lop bundles of fur will soon settle into your home and your life and keep you amused with their antics. They love their food, they have no bad habits and they’re ready to be your friends.
Poor Monty in Cattery sits at the front of his pen just waiting for someone to notice him.
He’s a beauty but no-one has fallen for his charms and Monty is still looking for a new life.
He’s 11 but he’s healthy now he’s had his dental treatment and he really needs to be wanted and loved. Perhaps it’s because he’s a little shy when he first meets you but please make the effort to get to know Monty as he’s really worth your attention and, once he is used to you, he’ll purr and play – give Monty a chance.
Tootsie and Tigger have been with us since the beginning of September which is amazing as they’re stunning marmalade cats with big green-gold eyes who look as if they are posing for a calendar. They’re eight years old, friendly, cuddly and loving and they enjoy being together. If you are the lucky person who adopts them you will have a readymade family who will enrich your life – oh, and they love their gourmet cat food!
The party season is nearly here and you’ll be thinking about what to wear for all the parties so why not visit our Second Chance Boutique in Windsor Road where you will find stunning outfits at a fraction of their original cost. The boutique will be opening for late night shopping on Thursdays on the run up to Christmas, starting on November 12 so there’s more time to grab a bargain.
Charity shop chic is very fashionable so save money, look great and help the animals – it’s a win win situation!
