Two Manx bands have been chosen to perform live sets in Preston for BBC Introducing.
Scarlett Parade and Cartesian Jetstream will perform 20-minute sets at The Ferret on Saturday next week (November 14) which will be recorded and later broadcast on BBC Radio Lancashire.
They were selected by BBC Lancashire DJ Sean McGinty after uploading their music through BBC Introducing.
Geoff Tinkler (vocals/piano) and Adam Jones (guitar/backing vocals) formed Scarlett Parade in 2012. They describe themselves as a rock band at heart, with influences including Damien Rice, Bruce Springsteen, Fleetwood Mac and Led Zeppelin.
Their debut EP ‘Wildwoods’ was released internationally in June and they’ve been performing on the London circuit.
‘Wildwoods’ was recorded in Rockfield, Wales, with the second single ‘Hold On’ being laid down back in the island with Mark Cleator and mixed by Tim Palmer.
They recently released an animated video for their lead single ‘White River’ which was created by Disney interns. Watch it on their VEVO channel.
Scarlett Parade are heading back to the studio in January to record their follow up EP which can be expected in spring/summer 2016.
Geoff and Adam said it was an ‘incredible opportunity’ to perform a live set for BBC Introducing: ‘It’s extra special for a couple of Manx bands to be making it on to UK airwaves.’
They thanked Mark Cleator at Red Lyon Studios for his continued support.
Cartesian Jetstream, formed in 2010, comprises Andy Watson (drums) Ben Scott (guitar), Philip Bell-Scott (bass) and Simon Kilgannon (guitar and vocals).
They said they sound like a garage band trying to be REM, The Beatles, The Smiths all at the same time!
When they perform in Preston it will be their first gig in England.
This week saw them start recording their third album, in the island.
Their first album ‘Sleep Over’ was released in 2013, followed by an EP ‘More Songs About Lizards & Fairies’ the following year.
Their second album, ‘Ancestors’ was released this year – if you order a CD from their Bandcamp page Phil will be more than happy to deliver it personally to your house!
Cartesian Jetstream have played all over the island including supporting Idles at the Villa and playing at Mannifest. They’re hoping to play some more local gigs in the New Year.
